A new series of “Rockin’ the Lockdown’ – with some invigorating, very real ‘roots music’s!
As a change from my usual ancient-themed lyre offerings, here is an spontaneous, uplifting klezmer duet – featuring my very own, very talented daughter, Rosie on piano – accompanying my klezmer fiddle…which was the very same fiddle once played by my great grandfather, Max Schneider during the First World War – there is nothing more inspiring than ‘roots music’!
Klezmer, the traditional Jewish instrumental music of the shtetls of old Eastern Europe, is so appropriate to these, the most uncertain and challenging times we have had in the last century with the ongoing pandemic – despite all the hardship, persecution and horrors inflicted on the Jewish communities of old Eastern Europe, their surviving music is still as triumphant a defiant celebration of the joy of life then as it is now – we can all get through this!
