This is a waltz I composed for my Aunt Ingrid in Vienna, who is my Mother Helga’s sister. It has a traditional Viennese waltz in the center, though I used more of a modern European tonality and feel in the slower intro, marked “maestoso.” Following the intro are four short sections marked “misterioso,” “tenebroso” (gloomy), “dolce” (sweet), and finally “caloroso” (warmly), to set up the happier and faster upcoming waltz. This is the fourth waltz in a series of piano waltzes that I composed with love and respect for the women in my family.
