Robert Cunningham’s Piano Quartet was composed in 1993 but revised extensively in 2018-2019. The passionately Romantic piece is in a single movement, in sonata-allegro form. Much of it is lyrical, but other passages bristle with driving energy. This February 2020 recording features Cari Sue Jackson (violin), Camille Phillips (viola), Sarah Langford (cello), and the composer at the piano.
